Q: I missed today's episode – when will it become available online?

A: New episodes of the Social become available later that same day. Average turn around time is 3 hours. So if when the show airs at 1:00 PM it should be up and only by 4:00 PM EST.

Q: Can I watch episodes outside of Canada?
 
A: Most full length episodes are available to Canadian viewers only. However, most other videos are available to everyone, regardless of location. If you're not sure if the video you want to watch is available to you - check to see if there is a Canadian flag symbol next to the video's title. If it appears, it is Canada-only content. Unfortunately, AOL is routed through a US IP and will not be able to watch any content that is designated Canada only.

Q: Do I need to watch all of the advertisements?

A: Yes, you cannot skip or fast-forward ads on the player.

Q: Can I share clips from the CTV player with my friends or embed the clips in my blog or social networks?

A: You can share clips by copying and pasting the clip Permalink (located in the top half of the player, beside the video itself) into your page. The player does not support embedded clips at this time.

Q: What are the minimum system requirements for running the video player?

A: You need a modern computer with a high-speed connection to optimize your viewing experience. Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems are supported.

Q: Can I watch the videos in full-screen?

A: You sure can! Simply click on the full-screen icon beside the player's volume control. To exit full-screen mode, simply press ESC and you'll return to the standard-screen mode.

Q: What browsers can I use to watch videos?

A: The player is fully-supported in Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome and Safari.

Q: I'm trying to view a clip but it says it is no longer available. Why can't I watch it anymore?

A: Due to licensing restrictions and agreements, some content has a limited lifespan on our video players and will be unavailable after a specified duration.
 
Q: I am concerned about exceeding my monthly bandwidth cap. How much of my bandwidth gets used watching content on Bell Media Video Players?
 
A: The video encoding specs vary somewhat across Bell Media channels, making it difficult to predict or measure usage specific to our video. Your Internet Service Provider provides online tools to monitor bandwidth consumption relative to your cap. Regularly tracking usage will provide the most accurate view of your own personal usage patterns.
 
Q: While trying to watch video on the website, I received an "Adobe Flash Player is out-of-date" message.

A: Follow the instructions to update to the latest version of Adobe Flash Player. https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Q: While trying to watch video on the website, I received a "Right Click to play Adobe Flash Player" or "Enable Adobe Flash Player" message.

A: Right click on the message within the video player and follow the steps to play video instantly. If that doesn't work or isn't available, follow the steps to enable Adobe Flash Player in your browser: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
 
Q: How do I enable Adobe Flash Player in my browser?

A: To watch video on our website Flash plugin must be enabled. Follow the directions here: https://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player.html
 
Q: Why is Flash being disabled in my browser by default?

A: Browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari are disabling flash by default. In the coming months, we will have a new solution that will not require Flash and will meet all new industry standards. The transition will be seamless to our customers and video will continue to work.

Q: When will the latest episode become available online?
 
A: We strive to post shows online in most cases as soon as they are finished premiering on broadcast across the country. In most cases the new episodes will become available within a couple of hours of the initial run. 
 
Q. How long are videos available online/Where are old videos? 
 
A: Depending on the content, windows of availability differ from clip to clip ranging in most cases from 5 days to 1 year.
 
Q. Why do commercials seem louder than programs?

A: There are many reason commercials may seem louder than programs. Please click here for more information on commercial audio levels.
 
Q. Does CTV air programs with descriptive video? 
 
A: CTV airs many programs with DV such as Motive, The Amazing Race Canada, The Following, CSI, W5, The Big Bang Theory and many other programs including movies and documentaries.

Q: How can I be an intern at The Social?
We're looking for full time or part time interns who are available Monday to Friday.

Here are some requirements:
  • Students must earn course credit for this internship. It's a company policy; no exceptions.
  • Students must be currently enrolled in a broadcast journalism or equivalent media studies program.
  • The position is solely production-based, so we are seeking students with production objectives.
